The North Wales Bird Trust is a registered Charity no: 1085403.

All the money raised for our work is in the form of voluntary donations from the public and private sectors, and every last penny goes into caring for the birds and our education programmes. We have received a super grant from the National Lotteries Charity Board for the equipment urgently needed in our new Bird Hospital, intensive care unit and hand rearing facility for orphaned birds.

We accept and care for tropical birds and birds of prey at the Sanctuary. Where it is possible, we release all injured birds of prey back to the wild after rehabilitation. Sometimes this is simply a matter of a few days but in some cases, for the badly injured raptor, it may mean an extended stay at the Sanctuary whilst the bird regains its natural functions. The birds we see are suffering, many in need of complicated and skilled care. The majority of them have been injured either directly or indirectly by man's disrespect for the natural world. Whilst we would admit that our lives are richer for having personally known each animal, caring for them is to immerse yourself in worry, both about the individual patient and about the human disregard that has brought them to this end. We as a society have come to regard wildlife, in fact all of the natural world, as our own playground.

Some of the birds of prey brought to us have been captive bred and are unwanted or have been badly treated. These birds are unsuitable for return to the wild as they have none of the skills for survival. In most cases these birds will remain as permanent residents at the Sanctuary.

Open to the public daily throughout the year from 10am.
